That's the same thing that happened to me last year when some kids let my dogs out og my yard. We got all back, except my blue merle male. It turns out some people had had him for a week, and only returned him because of the money offered for a reward. They said they were going to keep him otherwise. They hadn't even done anything like call the humane society, or pound, or anything to try to find his home.
 
People can be so rotten

My gut feeling says follow what Sheltiemom and Hopesheltie have suggested ! The Reward money usually will do it because of the greed. Sometimes people get me so angry.:mad:
Please contact the Dog officer and with our prayers please St. Francis intercede on behalf of Sweetie and please guide her home. In Jesus's name .Amen.
 
Yup, people sometimes get me angry too. Last year, I was puppy sitting a young cavalier named Nova. She and my Chinook were out in the back yard playing. My not-so-nice neighbour did (and still does) not like anything or anyone that makes ANY noise, and he opened the gate. Nova got out, Chinook stayed in the yard. I was horrified that we 'lost' Nova. Well, some kids found her. Their dad did call to find the owner. So the owner did contact me with their phone number. I tried calling for hours and they did not answer. Finally, when I did get through to them, they would not give me their address unless I agreed to pay them a reward for finding her!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe that. I was in shock. Of course, I payed, but my goodness - some people are heartless and just out to make a buck or two without regard to the other people's feelings.

Unfortunately some people will only do things for the money it seems. I posted that HUGE reward was being offered for her return. I had 1000.00 if she was returned but I know had I given just 250.00 that would have been enough since people just wanting the reward will settle for much less then what you may feel your dog is worth. It was abundantly clear when I picked Rachie up that money was the only reason I got her back. When I got the call they had Rachie the first thing that asked was how much the reward was. I never put an amount on the poster, I just put Large Reward on the posters

These people never went to see if Rachie was chipped (claimed the vet would charge them to check it) nor did they report the lost dog to the HUmane Society

Lost Sheltie

Today came with lots of sunshine! I want all of you to know your prayers helped bring my Sweetie home! I went to the shelter this morning to check to see if they had info and was posting ads for her . My next stop was our veterinarian. I recieved a call from my boss at work. She asked if my dog was missing because the vet had called to leave me a message. I then called from my cell and found she was 2 blocks from my home. I called the lady and she said she woke to Sweetie walking up to her door. She said she had but her Lady .( A Sheltie ) down the day before. My Sweetie looks exactly like their Lady. So They kept her safe until they could find me. She is safe with me again. I think my Sweetie has a Sheltie guardian angel watching over her. Thank you all for helping me deal with my grief.

After watching what sheltiemom went through when Rachie bolted out of the house, I know something of what you were going through.

Oh joy, joy, joy!!!!! Thank you, St. Francis!! I think St. Francis decided to help yu find Sweetie AND comfort Lady's Mom at the same time! :yes:
 
I am so happy that she's home again, safe and well! After the stories I just read in this thread, it's shocking what humans will do to each other and our beloved pets.
 
What great news! Extra pats and treats for Sweetie, and a big sigh of relief for you. Thanks for letting us know. :biggrin2:
