Fun match #2

We had a great day despite the rain and cold day! It was our first time at this agility club and our second time doing a fun-match. I am pretty proud of Kyara and I, all the work we have done on her reactivity and the agility training is definitely starting to show.

Here is our first run on a Standard course.. A little side note, she had never done 12 weave poles, only six and we had been retraining and she had only gone up to 6 until a day before but I thought I should give it a try as I had time to retrain then and reward with some treats. Though she did pop out, I was impressed that her movement was very good.

As for the dog-walk, I think she was convinced it was the teeter since it is the same color as the one at our regular club.

Here is our second try on the same Standard course. Kyara was more confident and I expected her to keep the same speed as the first run but she was much faster . Lots of handling mistakes on my part there but I was happy to see her be confident. I had extra time to practice the weeves at the end and after the second try, she did the 12 weaves :smile2:.

Finally, here is our third run was a Steeplechase that went very well! She did great! I did not run fast enough at the end but we had extra time to try that part over again and we got it right.

I am very proud of my girl :smile2:.

Looking good! So much improvement since your last show and go, you should be proud.

The very end was awesome--lovely aframe!

I had to laugh that she thought the dogwalk was the teeter, and kept wanting to avoid it...but then kept wanting to cut behind you and run up it the other way

Looking good. You'll have a really nice agility dog with more time and work. She looks just to be a bit green, and isn't always sure, but looks like she's running happily, and should have nice distance and obstacle focus with time.
Be careful of your rear cross timing which was late for the rc after the weaves, and flailing your arms. Around 50 seconds into the steeplechase run you were flailing quite a bit, and weren't giving your dog the type of information she needs to understand what you want. You're plenty fast. With the push out of the tunnel I would suggest either front crossing or blind crossing the end of the tunnel. I'd prefer the blind just because you are wanting to cue extension coming down that line, and a blind cross shows that best.
For now, I would try not to get so ahead on the dogwalk, since she is showing signs of not being confident on it. Don't just assume she's going to go forward and leave her. While the DW when you wanted the tunnel was an off course, I would praise the heck out of her for taking it and go with her. It's a good thing if she's showing intiative to get on it and go across it. One thing with green dogs is you never want them to know they're wrong, as you don't want to slow them down over time, and in her case, you don't want to make her question getting on the DW.
I would continue doing what you're doing and attend as many show n gos/fun matches as possible to help her build confidence in a show like setting on different equipment and in different places. It helps.

Thank you!! Yes we have come a long way and its incredible to see the improvement compared to last fun match. I'm very happy of how we are progressing .

Yes that was pretty funny . It was so cute on the last try when I didn't follow her, she looked so proud when she got to the other side so I yelled out a ''Good girl'' and called her back to the tunnel we missed. She adores the tunnel so in a way it was the best reward ahaha.

HopeShelties: Thank you for all the feedback, it is very appreciated! I love getting these runs on video as it gives me so much opportunity to review and see how to improve.:smile2:

A lot of people did the blind cross on the push out of the tunnel and it gave good results. I will practice blind crosses as I am not very familiar with them.
I also noticed I still bend over a lot and the more I do that, the more I start flailing my arms  and not placing my shoulders correctly, I need to keep my back straight and movements more precise.

I love these fun-matches, it's awesome to practice in this type of environment. Thanks for watching!

Your little love is having a ball, he is so fast. I bet we hear about ribbons down the road real soon. He really wanted to please you , you can tell.

You are both comming along Nicely, Keep at it, I have to admit I got a bit of a chuckle off the Dog walk too and then after comming off the table she ran right back down the dog walk with a like OK mom See I did it. :wink2:

Fun Match

You guys looked great. You have a nice dog there. The only thing I will comment on is the weaves. You were doing what we call The Weave Pole Dance at the weaves making sure your dog doesnt pop out.Trust your dog and she will dog great!

 My dear BF was making fun of my dance also! On my defense it was the first time she did the 12 poles so with more practice, I will gain more confidence  and try not to do the Weave Pole Dance. I'll train her to be more independent on the weaves instead of having me right by her side.

Thank you Randi, Internette & Hursteverywhere for all your comments. We had a blast and I can't wait for the next one. :smile2:

ohmygosh
she looks great
She was SO happy, great team in the making, I have no doubts Q's are in your very near future!!

LOL'd on the dogwalk that is EXACTLY what we are experiencing at the moment, I agree with HopeShelties; I am currently trying to NOT get ahead and build value for it. Toffee also thinks it's the a teeter and gets freaked out when it doesn't actually teeter :rolleyes2: Loved how she butt passed to get on it again, tho!!
I LOVED how she was happy and confident and great work on the entry of the weaves, lol'd at the weave dance, it's true what Sharon said trust your dog :D
Great experience and a fun run to watch, looking forward to more from you and Kyara!!
