Fun Match!

Today Cruz and I participated in our first ever fun match. It was also our first time at a trial-type environment. I didn't know how he would react to the whole thing, so my main goal was for my pup to simply stay in the ring with me! I wasn't going to ask him to do any obstacles (let alone the course) unless I thought he was ready, so the plan was just to eat yummy treats and play in the ring and see how he did...

Well, apparently Cruz just thought all my play and treating for nothing was a big huge bore. He barked and barked, and looked longingly at the equipment. So I went ahead and started running the course with him, and he zipped around it like an old pro! I'm so proud of this kid - today was a real confidence booster for both of us :yes: we are looking forward to the next fun match on the 15th of this month.. and I will definitely get video next time!

Some yummy BBQ for the humans and some new friends too! So much fun and I have an exhausted pup! There is some training video that I posted last week, Calliesmom! He looks like Jocu running :winkgrin:

he does look like Jocu- just don't let him watch Jo's Sunday video- don't let him get any bad ideas..........
 
So glad to hear it went well! Can't wait to see videos from the next one.

Our trainer set up a novice course for Enzo to run this weekend...eek. We have some work to do!

Ah, yes thank you! I was so nervous about how he would do because he is a teenager and has days where all he wants to do is visit. Today was a focus and play agility day!

It's because Enzo is just so darn fast! We do okay when we practice full starters/novice course work, but we are not nearly as fast as you guys. It may very well be the heat slowing Cruz down, but we will be adding in some speed drills in the next bit for good measure :)
