Gagging while eating and drinking

Yes, his bark is normal. He hasn’t gagged today - just the extra swallowing. I’ll give him another Benadryl and see if that helps. I’ll also try the honey.

Do dogs have an Adam’s apple? I felt his throat and there seems to be a larger bump at the top, like where a human would have an Adam’s apple. Jessie doesn’t have this I checked.

Yeah, it sure would be nice if just 1 week could go by with no health scares, and I could stop worrying about my dogs for a bit... oh well, that’s pet ownership I guess..

I was hoping he was doing better, but he just gagged again several times while drinking water. I gave him a Benadryl about 2 hours ago, and also a bit of honey. I’ll call the vet in the morning and see what they think.

He is still energetic and happy at least. I would think if it was something serious like a collapsed trachea that he wouldn’t be running around normally?
 
collapsed trachea can vary in severity and is chronic, not acute (not an injury, although an injury could make it more noticeable and lead to more symptoms). apparently only really severe ones end up with surgery. hopefully things resolve in a few days!
 
Google missed something - reflux. Tully has always gagged after drinking, sometimes vomited a little water on the floor. Never after eating. I used to think it was because she drank too fast or it was just a thing she did. Roll forward many years and I just off hand mentioned it to her specialist, and he said the most likely reason for a dog doing this is reflux. He said to raise all her water bowls up higher so she isn't bending down to drink. I realised then that when she drinks from the soup tureen, which is Tully height (she's only small) she doesn't gag, I guess because it's basically Tully sized (she is only little).

Maybe Elei has a little reflux after the sting?
