Ginger cookies for nausea/car sickness

Ya I’d skip Deacon’s breakfast as well if you can. I totally agree with you that it’s motion sickness, Blueberry gives no outward indications that she’s going to vomit...no drooling or crying just boom.
She did throw up when we we’re almost home but she wouldn’t take another cookie, I think because they were too hard. My breeder said she used something called Bonin that she ordered off Amazon with Blueberry’s dam who also had bad motion sickness. I haven’t checked it out yet but I may if this continues.
Poor hubby...did you have Deacon in a crate or loose? At least with Covid I have hand sanitizers and paper towels in the car (and gloves lol) because I don’t particularly like vomit either lol.

see I was prepared for Covid because I already had all that stuff in my car. Lysol wipes, paper towels, Nature's miracle......
so Bonine is the brand name for meclizine which is what I use for seasickness. It does come in at least 2 strengths so you might need to check with your vet on how much to give her......
where I live you can ask at the pharmacy - even in Walmart- and you can usually get a bottle of 100 pills for the same price as the little tube of Bonine. some are dissolvable/chewable and some are regular pills.

did you have Deacon in a crate or loose?

NEVER, EVER loose!!!! Deacon sits in a car seat in a harness, strapped to the seat belt behind him. He does NOT fair well in a crate in a car. I do have a water proof pad underneath him just in case he vomits - Brodie taught me well! That way the car seat is protected adn I only have to remove the pad, exchange it with another.

Mom of 3 kids here... never without first aide kits, paper towels, wipes, garbage bags - when the kids were young, even had spare panties and socks in the car, just in case...

This always shocks me. When we got our first doxie, the breeder told us to contain him in the car - that in an accident his body will be like it's shot out of a cannon; maiming or killing him but also maiming or potentially killing a passenger. I honestly never thought of it that way, but we strap our kids in, then idiotically plop a dog in the car with no thought of what happens to them or where their bodies go in a crash. Our trainer preaches, preaches, preaches it, folks nod their heads in agreement and walk out and plop their dogs in the car.

I am not a fan of having them in the back either although I know many trainers, show people transport their dogs in the back. When my kids were young, I drove a mini-van (I hated it, btw, just because it was a mini-van) and saw one rear-ended by a tractor trailer on the Newburgh Beacon Bridge. That following week I was on the prowl to get rid of the mini-van. Where two of my kids sat was in the back seat that was crushed by the truck in the one I saw. I ended up with a Yukon XL, tons of space to spilt the kids up, doxies went behind me in a car seat, lots of room behind that last row. I now drive a regular length Yukon since I mostly just drive myself, hubby and the dogs around. I would no more want my dogs squished in the back in an accident than I wanted my kids squished.

I totally understand Sandy...my sister travels to her trailer and puts all 3 of her dogs together in a soft crate or loose. I’ve told her they’ll become a projectile in the event of an accident. She just laughed and said well if I die I’d want them to die too. There’s just no fixing stupid! Mine are in crates and even though I have a hatch and would have room in the back for a crate I too would never put one of them back there. I also hate it when I see dogs in the back of a pickup...in an accident that dog will be dead!
