Gizmo died a little over a year ago on April 4, 2009. He was the first sheltie we ever had. I have never in my life met a drama queen like Gizmo. He always demanded to be the center of attention, and if he didn’t get to be you would know about it.
He was a back sleeper. The days you would find Gizmo without all four paws pointed towards the ceiling were few and far between. If attention was his favorite thing then Beggin Strips were the second. He had to have one at dinner time every day or he would bark until you caved and gave him one.
He died at the ripe old age of 11 years. A few days after he died the rain started. It rained for almost a month solid with only a few dry days in between. I’ve never seen it flood like that here before. You think it’s depressing to lose a pet you’ve had for all of your teenage life and most of your adult life…well. It’s worse when it’s dark and rainy for a month after that.
Gizmo was more than a dog. He was a family member. We miss you, Gizmo, and we will never forget you. I am sure you are much better off now. Hopefully you are no longer completely deaf.
