Glad & sad at the same time

Thanks so much for the kind words! I know we can't save them all but it is so hard to walk away. I am hoping that she will wind up in a very hot place for her next life.

Rose seems to be doing well from all I hear. I just got 2 pictures of her being bathed & was thrilled that she looked calm & didn't get upset. The water was an awful brown so you know she must feel better to get all the dirt off. Her new mom said she was able to cut out a lot of mats with no problem. The vet visit went ok but the vet was appalled at how she looked (neglected). She got her rabies shot & a general checkup & is set to be spayed.

It was worth the drive to save her & it is a wonderful feeling to see a dog that needs love & an owner that needs to love. Her Lassie that passed away is surely smiling.
 
I am so thankful for you guys and the work you do. If not for people like you, I'd never have been able to adopt my Bela. She was a puppy mill rescue, about the same condition Rose was.

Rose's new mom just needs to provide loving patience and gently not take no for an answer. I know Bela and other rescues will always be a work-in-progress, but I am still astonished sometimes at the progress she makes.

Patience, patience, patience, and when that doesn't work, more patience. (Sometimes with some hand-feeding. LOL)
 
I finally got a reply from the breeder where we got "Rose". She said the lady did take the sister so that is hopefully a blessing. Rose is settling in much better & her new mom is happy. I asked the breeder if she had any more shelties because I was contacted by our local humane society. They had a man wanting one & I am on their speed dial for sheltie info. I did find Murphy in Baton Rouge at a shelter's rescue group & gave them that info. Hopefully we helped Murphy find a home too. Then on Saturday I am possibly helping to do a leg of a transport for a collie from MS to TX. Anything to make a happy ending!
 
Thanks SO much for the update... I have been wondering, and sad, about Rose's sister every day, so I breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully that lady will be patient with the dog's adjustment period.

Kudos to you for helping with Murphy and the Collie as well. It just takes all of us to do what we can, and have our eyes open to what's out there. I took my favorite shelter dog to a local nursery that is pet friendly yesterday ( I know - a nursery that's dog friendly?? The manager is in my dog club.) He was a hit and had two people interested in putting in an application for his adoption, so I left there feeling pretty good.

Thanks so much for doing so much for these poor neglected creatures. I've always thought that the animal cruelty laws are way too lax and that those convicted should be forced to live for a period of time in exactly the same conditions they inflicted on their animals.
Glad your friend was willing to take a chance on a traumatized pup. Even though my Rocky wasn't exactly abused before I got him, he was certainly neglected and constantly scared to the point where it has effected him permanently. It took at least 6 months for him to calm down and accept me as his owner and he trusts no one else. He will never be relaxed or friendly around other people, in fact he runs & hides but that's fine with me. I'm sure she will end up with a loving and loyal dog in the end.
