I remembered a thread from last year on goals (
http://www.sheltieforums.com/showthread.php?t=12915), and thought it would be interesting to see what from the goals from 2012 have been accomplished as well as setting the goals for 2013.
Here's last year's post for me:
Starr:
Complete CKC RA (missing one leg) - done, plus his R.E. title
Complete CARO RA (missing one leg under a different judge) - done, plus his CARO RX title
Complete CKC Open Title (maybe....if he doesn't get bored....) - done
Compete in agility - done
Compete in freestyle - not done, and no progress on it. Guess I'll have to leave that for 2013
Continue to work at Treibball (he's picking it up fast, but there aren't any trials near us) - some progress, but I should be doing more.
Earn a CKC TD title - not done
Continue enjoying life and pushing his owner to be as active as he is! - working on it!
Seren:
Become a rally "demo dog" - done
Sleep - done
Snuggle - done
Keep Starr in line - you bet!
So our goals for 2013...
Starr:
Earn his CARO Rally Versatility title.
Use Treibball and Freestyle for conditioning and problem solving, even if we don't compete.
Earn a TD title.
Focus more on conditioning, warm ups, cool downs, and massage for agility.
Perfect our running contacts.
Work on directionals and obstacle layering.
Do more jump grids.
Get over my videotaping paranoia.
Earn a few CKC agility titles.
Get to the Elite Level in all NADAC "games"
Trust my dog.
Have as much fun in our second season trialing as we did in our first
Seren:
I'd like to resolve her medical issues, and improve her conditioning in a fun, bonding environment (ie. hiking) - for her sake, not for the sake of dogsports. I'd possibly like to compete in a Rally trial...but I've learned to appreciate her for the dog she is, not the dog I
used to think she should be. Right now, she loves to do a few agility obstacles or rally signs with me, and then she gets bored and wanders off...and I've learned that's okay. She has done an amazing job helping me raise Starr, she is a wonderful traveling companion, she adores me, and she makes my world a better place...and that's more than good enough for me. So I won't set any real goals for her - I just want her to be healthy, happy, and to know how loved she is in the year 2013.
For Me:
To work on my own conditioning, and pay as much attention to my physical and mental health as I do my dogs'.
To become a more consistent handler and listen to my gut instinct.
To accept constructive guidance more graciously.
To be as good of a person as my dogs think I am.
