Going to my first UKI trial tonight!

Anybody here done a UKI show yet?

My daughter Jordan and I are going out to PA tonight for a New Year's show! We'll be running Gamblers, Agility(basically standard), Speedstakes(which is steeplechase) and Snooker. They are doing a couple of runs then a catered dinner then a couple more runs and then ringing in the new year.

Where else would I rather be than with Trax, doing what we love to do?

Yeah I think we are going to try and go. It's only an 8 hour drive so not too bad.

I think we are going to go too. I think our club is going to host a UKI trial in the spring, but it's nice you can go to the open without qualifying ahead of time.

I'll be entering my first UKI trial here in western MA this spring. Looks like fun! I'd be interested to know what you think of it! Coming from CPE/DOCNA, I think it should be an interesting change of pace for me and my girl.

The courses were difficult but not impossible. I loved the challenge of it all. Also, I love that you can choose to run, "Not for competition" as long as you let the judge and the score table know before you run. They can close the gates for you if you choose, and you get the full SCT to train your dog on the course. No food allowed but toys are. You can work on your start line stays or your contacts, etc. It can really help if you have a problem and you can fix it right then and there...at least on your next run after the problem occurs.

Yes--I love that! My husband is going to do one here locally with both dogs--he'll use it to train Bentley's a-frame in the ring. A very cool option.
