Good videos for beginners?

I'd love to see some of that, too, please :smile2:
In all reality tho there are many, many videos out there, but all I can say is foundations foundations foundations...
Things can easily erode at trials, so if you're not putting yourself out there you may not know that, because dogs don't generalize... and a trial is totally different than your backyard. Takes training and time to get same results and confidence at trial so I continue to learn!

I have a training program that goes from zero to 18 weaves in 80 minutes that delivers results as good as SG. Of course those 80 minutes are 4 5 minutes sessions over 4 consecutive days. And my dogs have some of the most reliable & fastest weaves you'd see at any trial. I just don't put myself out there.

One thing though is not to train this to *puppies*. If Swagger was a puppy when learning this then that is not something I'd want beginners trying to emulate.

2x2 is a program of teaching weaves with shaping a la SG style. If dog is operant it is a breeze. SG should be releasing her Shaping course sometime soon, it is very very valuable tool to learn, makes things so much easier when training.
As for puppies being taught early, what I am seeing more and more in dog training here and even in Europe that learning skills starts early but puppies do not get to transfer those skills to the agility equipment until they older and ready. At Puppypeaks we are on Swagger being 12 months old so we are started seeing real equipment. We are on week 8 of Contact course and have not seen yet DW or AF work... foundations foundations foundations.... so want to get to sexy part though:lol:

We do trial. I meant I don't put myself out there like SG does.
Video skills definitely not my strength LOL!

The problem for beginners is that there are so many different ways to doing things that many conflict with each other. There is no single source available to help guide the beginner properly between doing something one way or not another. The best bet is to find a good trainer & listen to her advice.

OHHH that is what you meant by putting yourself out there, hehe
sorry I misunderstood, in which case I totally agree with you!
I love the line, pick a system and stick with it, LOL
and definitely agree with finding and listening to a trusted Instructor

Yep, totally agree there. Big reason why I hang so much around SG classes. She has it all and easy for me to follow. Interesting that it seems equally helpful for people like me, newbies as well for experiences professional dog trainers.

I am learning about behavioral drifts hard way:smile2:. Leo so prone to flying off contacts that creating new behavior is really a challenge.

yeah and it erodes AT trials!
so, I am trying for three, solid nose touches in training to hope for a nosey swipey, wimpy touch at next trial, LOL
Kidding I have only now started to put him on some contacts at fun matches, not at trial YET... think will try to see how it goes end of July trial... but won't command him to 'stick it' so I won't mess him up too much...
It's a balance act... such a tough sport.. hahahaahh GAWD I love agility!!!
