Goodbye, my friend.

Kenneth, my heart goes out to you for your loss. As difficult as it is, you've got to remember all the good times you had with Junior. You are absolutely right by the way that people do not understand how strong animal-human bonds are. These guys are literally like family and it hurts to lose one. Junior knows you loved him and is wagging his little tail from over the Rainbow Bridge.

Hi Kenneth,
We are all so sorry for your loss, of Junior,
We are sure he is free of pain and now at the Rainbow Bridge with peace and joy of having been owned by you for his life, and never to be forgotten.
Lots of sheltie luv
Sylvia & us 4 shelties William, Morgan, Patrick, Sophie and our angel at the Bridge Bonnie always in our hearts.

Thanks, everyone, for your words of comfort.

Well, it's been 2 weeks now. While I still miss him the pain is starting to subside, which is good on one hand since I am starting to get over his death, but bad on the other hand as it means I may be starting to forget him, which is something I really fear. Guess I never realised how much he meant to me until he left. I've thought of getting another, but I may be putting that off till I graduate in about 3 years. Shelties truly are the best dogs alive. Please cherish yours with all your heart.

*Hugs*

Most people find it hard to believe that a human-pet relationship can be a strong or even stronger than a human-human relationship.

...ain't it the truth. Some days I truly feel that my bond with Caliber is stronger then the bond I have with my b/f. It's sad - but they seem to have a 6th sense...they know when to snuggle extra close, they know when you need extra kisses. And altho they can't speak human words, you can always manage to find yourself having a conversation through the expressions they give off. Nothing better than Sheltie expressions...

My heart goes out to you. I think everyone has experienced loosing the best companion anyone could ever be blessed with. Just reading your story made me cry...

I could never even begin to imagine living a day without Caliber(altho - I know the day will come one day.)

I hope you start to feel better very soon. Lots of human hugs and Sheltie kisses go out to you! Keep your head up high! Junior knew how much he meant to you, and he's no doubt with you every step of every day! :o

You will never forget him, I promise you! It took me about 3 days after Timber died in May to decide to get another pup. At first, my son refused to get another Sheltie because he did not want to "replace" Timber.

When we finally brought Bacca home in June, I was so ready. To this day, I sometimes slip and call Bacca, Timber. They don't look remotely alike, but we connect them anyway. Its the same as how I connect my younger sister with my 19 year old daughter who died in March. I sometimes call my sister by my daughter's name....but I did that even before she died.

It's not ever a replacement, just that something about them reminds us of the ones we lost....

Kenneth, Barb is correct !

You will never forget him he will always be in your heart and memories. It has been a year and 2 plus monthe since I lost Jewel and only a mater of a month since I lost Tasha. You never forget them it just gets a little easier to get by with normal things in life. I still find myself crying when I think of Tasha or Jewel.,and thats ok. because they were and still are in memories a part of my life. I had Jewel for 10 years and Tasha for 14. Jewel was the hardest to get over because it was so sudden. You don't expect to bring a pet in for dental work and the pet not return home. Tasha suffered for a little over a year the last 6 months she went downhill pretty quickly we held off as long as we could but she was failing in eyesight, urine was basically leaking 24/7 and she was having too much difficulty with stairs and just standing. She was lying down more than anything else. Allow yourself time to keep Juniors memories alive with a tribute to him. I have both my dogs ashes at home with me along with their collars and pictures. They will be buried with me when I pass.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, it is never easy.

Our girls have been as close to us as our son, mainly because they are always there to greet us and make our day brighter no matter how bad it may have been. The pain of losing them does decrease in time but we never forget them.

When we buried my daughter's ashes in June, we also buried with her Timber's ashes, as well as the ashes of my two old cats who died a couple of years back.

That way, all whom I loved and lost are together! And I can visit them all at once.

Good bye sweet Lad

Oh barb...your story always make me so sa....but what a beautiful memory of all your loved ones
