Got our MX this weekend!

I love watching you guys. Trax is always looking to see what you want him to do, and off he goes. Super fast. LOL. Great job...and the teeter scared me too. Yay, no refusal.

Congrats on your MX!!!!

The MXJ will come easily, right? Right! With 50 MACH points I'm sure. Hehe.

Funny! Not quite 50 points I'm sure ;) He's had a lot of problems with wrong courses lately and my trainer and I are reviewing the videos to try and pinpoint what we're doing wrong to cause this. Jumpers courses used to be super easy and standard was hard, but that seems to have swapped lately.

Okay, 45 then. :P

From what I've seen in the video and most of the time, it seemed like Trax is waiting for you a lot to give him directions. He's already heading towards the next obstacle looking at you waiting. I don't know if that would cause off-course or not, but seeing him pause, look, and then go, makes me just wonder if you need to give commands earlier?

Of course, you know that he's so dang fast, that could be the issue too, lol. Trust me, although I see him doing that, it doesn't mean I'd be any better. Just thought I'd throw that out there, in case it is one part of the issue.

I'm sure you'll get that MXJ leg soon enough and then we'll patiently await his MACH!

Well actually lately he's not been looking at me at all when he goes off course. I have these videos that we're analyzing now:

Here's Saturday's

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eo-IKIayQw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fugIxWu1qM0

And here's Sunday's runs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh5CD4HdT3c - Q You saw this one already

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPQDVddSn2E

I keep pausing the video right before and during the off course events and it seems to me that he's already anticipating the next jump before I get to give any direction. We saw a pattern after watching the videos last night. I've watched them another hundred or so times today and it seems like he's forgotten his collection and extension cues, or maybe I have too. If you look at the 3 NQ videos almost every time it's a 180 with a jump straight ahead of the first jump and he takes that instead of turning, even though my body is turning and I'm screaming, "TTTTRRRRAAAAXXX!!!!" lol!

So yes, still lots of work to be done. I'm gonna set up this pattern at home and start working on it and hopefully by our next show we'll have it fixed :biggrin2:

Yeah in the NQ runs he wasn't looking at me when he went off course. It's almost as if he's gotten more independent lately. Even in class if I'm not doing something with him, he's trying to run off and take obstacles on his own. We're gonna nip that real quick though.

No, I don't believe he self released. He did get a refusal though for spinning before the table. The only time he released when he shouldn't have was the Jumpers course on Saturday and that was the start line. It was just a split second before I released him so I didn't realize it til we were already on the move, which of course was too late to correct him.

Now that the MX is out of the way(phew!) we're gonna play, "hold your contact or we're not gonna get to run" for the next few shows and see if I can't get his butt to stay on the contact til I release him. That's our biggest problem really overall. He is so anxious out there, I have a terrible time getting him to hold a contact long enough for me to get ahead.
