Grass seeds and spikey seeds!

Hopefully I won't have to deal with it as much for the next week or so. I'm trading in grass seeds for rain. :dead: Not sure which I hate more.

Yes, the life of a country dog. Justice and Ember stays with my friends husband when I went to the last show with Diva. I'm still pulled debris out of Justice after 2 days brushing. He had this large twig stuck in his pants, how he could walk I don't know. No ticks thankfully the frontline worked. Ember didn't have much debris but she is dirtier than a pig. She likes to dirt holes in the soft dirt and lay in them. Both dogs are going to need bathes again before the next show in 2 weeks. I just bathed them 2 weeks ago. Sigh. But no since doing anything but brushing until right before the show they'll just get dirty again.

Even cheaper - baby oil. I put it on the ends of the fur when we go out and the seeds are less likely to stick and easier to get out. And when you are getting them out put baby oil on the spot or on the brush and it helps get them out easier.

Good thing about baby oil is, while it works well at the time it doesnt stay in the coat long term and make it greasy.

We've got a big problem with seeds here too since we had some rain - and of course they love running through the long grass.

SIDEBAR NOTE: Michele, on carpenter bees that are drilling holes in the wood, (Brian will love this!) get a tube of Liquid Nail, load it in the gun and when you see the bee go in its hole, stick the nozzle of the gun in the hole and SQUEEZE. You kill the bee (apologies to all of you who don't kill insects:o), and fill the hole all in one quick shot!

And yes, McKinley LOVES the carpenter bees. Chases them all over the yard!

I have read that and also WD-40 for some reason. It probably would not be so bad,but there are so many of them, honestly its really bad.I thought I at least had it under control by hanging zippy bags of water with pennies inside. And for a few days in the beginning it seemed to help, but now the yard is full of these pesky things.

I don't even hang out laundry, when they are swarming. They really come very close, and ya don't dare walk outside with your mouth open. Where there are hanging out and boring is an overhang not enclosed roof, that is attached to a cinder block building.

And there is also a grape arbor right there. Then the back side of the cinder block building there is a long open roof, think "lean-to".With no walls, just roof over.We store lumber, and odds of stuff there.

I know as summer gets hot & late in Aug/Sept, the bees seem to finally fade, but right now,I'm not sure Brian would even venture to find the holes where they are boring.Unless he could find them later in evening when they are quiet.
I'll tell him though.

Oh Lady always looks like a Sheltie Christmas tree, I brush her, the two are due for a bath, waiting for the rain to let up after this weekend.

Lady likes these little flowers I have mixed in my pots, called diamond frost, looks like baby breath. By the time she gets done rubbing against them, it looks like dandruff on her skin but its not. I got concerned last year until I figured it out by watching what she was doing.

I use a pin brush, shedding whip, comb.
