As far as housetraining him Shelties are very smart, I would search the forum for housetraining threads and you'll find plenty of info. Also beware Shelties are very sensitive screaming, rubbing his nose in it etc. won't work. Getting him on a regular feeding and walking schedule are a good start if he isn't already.

As for house training, we're just making sure we take him on walks long enough for him to do his business. (Why must it be cold icy rains? Brrr.) I think he might be bashful on leash, if that makes any sense? Seems to be getting better about it though. I don't think there's a dog alive who'd be helped by negative housetraining, let alone a sensitive sheltie.

I think the funniest thing is that our previous foster was a hyper energetic, extremely independent boxer/shar pei puppy. Loved her, but we could write a book about all the troubles she caused us, and all the inedible things she managed to devour. Beau couldn't be more different, he's so gentle and attentive and eager to please. (He found the kitchen trash last night, oops. Smart boy!)
