Grooming products suggestions!

Can somebody please explain to me how to get Smudge to accept one of these? When I took him to get groomed the show lady used the Pedi Paws. He was terrified of it, but I liked how it worked. We got him used to the noise, but once she started cutting his nails with it he freaked.

I can't hold a treat, a Pedi Paws/Dremmel, and the paw in my hand! :biggrin2: I also can't rely on somebody else in the house to help me. I'm pretty much on my own. Everybody wants to pet him and give him treats, but nobody wants to help groom him. :rolleyes2:

I posted a thread on this a while back, but I'll try to remember what I did.

1) Start by sitting on the floor with the dremmel next to you. If the pup comes close to it or even looks at it, click and treat. Do that a bunch of times.
2) Next, turn on the dremmel and encourage pups to stay calm and close to your. Praise and treat.
3) Next, touch the dremmel to your pups toes, but not turned on. Simulate as if you were grinding. Praise and treat.
4) Turn the dremmel back on and touch the body of the dremmel to your Shelties' body so she can feel the vibration. Praise and treat
5) Finally introduce the dremmel to the nails. Start with just a touch to each nail, gradually working up to proper nail grooming sessions. Never dremmel a nail more than a few seconds at a time because it does heat up. Work each paw, one to three times over until you have the correct grind.

I must have missed the post about the dremmel/pedi paws where you explained it. I had decided to do the regular nail cutters, but then I saw first hand how the pedi paws worked and had to have one! I'm going to see about finding one at PetSmart on my next days off.

I have a few CC brushes. I've got the round gold series pin brush, the small slicker, and a comb. I'm thinking about buying the CC ear cleaner, too.

When you clean your dogs ears do you stick a cotton swab down the dog's ears? :confused2: When Smudge got groomed this is what the groomer did, and he didn't care for it at all!
