Ok, here is the plan that we used:
1) the Lazy susan.....

This is a Canadian company if you google "lazy susan hardware" you might find other distributors, though Lee Valley does ship to the US, I believe.
Mine is 17 3/8 size.
2) Piece of plywood - square but with rounded edges - 24 x 24. Mounted on the lazy susan. I think you can see the platform from the picture that I posted before.
3) David had to screw on a 2 inch piece of wood in one corner to allow the the arm to stand and the table to rotate freely. We did not build legs like the "model". This was much easier.
Screw on/folding grooming arm. Because the arm folds, I can tuck it into the closet when not used.

4) I covered the wood with rubber matting that I found at Home Depot in the kitchen section.....stuff you line your drawers with. No slip and non-porous.
Hope this helps! It ain't pretty, but it works!
Thanks Barb, that is fantastic! I"m in Canada and have a Lee Valley store on my way home from work. Don't you love that store?! I have some of the rubber matting already so I think I will have to give it a try.
