Grooming Tips for Remy?!?

These are the discs I use with my dremel paw...the way you described is basically how I do my dogs. Just a little at a time and I never keep it on the nail for long, almost a tapping motion. The discs I use are 1/2”. I find anything smaller just takes too long, especially with my bigger Sheltie.

These smaller shears I like for cleaning up the edges. These are made by Gator and are called Trim ‘n cut. Very sharp...I use them to clean up around the ears after thinning as well as on the paws4A8A6EAF-4728-4473-998F-BC587D3BD0F3.jpeg A461CBE6-7245-4168-AAB2-7F346B00E47B.jpeg E684F911-4B49-4C6C-AAB0-6C18ED4A6A12.jpeg 1582ACB8-6B83-47F8-B337-B34A320FD0DF.jpeg

I use Madan pin brushes. They're a bit cheaper than the Chris Christensen ones and I actually prefer them. I have a Mason Pearson too which I treasure...it's the best brush on the planet, but I save it for shows.

Thinning shears are actually easier to use than straight shears because they take less hair and are more forgiving. If you make a mistake, it's much easier to fix or ignore than a chop with straight shears. You can get some inexpensive ones that work well at Sally Beauty online or even here at Amazon. These are inexpensive enough to try and see if you like them.

I use a Dremmel for nails too with just the regular sanding tip. It works well and does avoid cutting too close. Once you groom a few times and find what works best for you and your pup it's an easy and enjoyable process. Good luck and happy grooming!

based on Ann's and others recommendations some years ago, I bought some Madan pin brushes. before that with my first sheltie, I only used an undercoat rake and a comb.....
I have a cordless regular dremel with the sanding head. cookies make that all better....
