Grooming?

I got my hair once. :uhoh: I think the dog was laughing at me.

.

OMG! I'm sure the dog was laughing at you! Dog's revenge!

And here I thought I was bad, when sometimes I end up missing the dog's nails and end up dremmeling my own! (Happens when I'm trying to push fur away from the nail with one hand and the dremmel in the other!) So we BOTH get manicures - although my nails end up a little shorter than I might have liked!

Ok I got to admit....its been a bad week for poor Noah...first I was vacuuming with the Dyson, I picked up the vacuum to move to over the dogs bed and of course im wrangling 5 dogs to not attack the vacuum and poor Noahs tail got sucked in:eek2:...Thank goodness it was the dyson so first bit of hesitation it shuts off...whew disaster adverted....than 2 days later I was dremmeling Six's nails and Noah was next to me attacking a tennis ball, well he got a bit too excited with the tail wagging (and too close to me) and his tail got wrapped in the dremmel :eek2:and it shut off before I knew what happened! It didnt pull out any fur thank goodness but did knot the heck out of it and took me a bit to unknot! Poor Noah. I felt soo bad for him but thankfully he didnt seem to notice any thing out of the ordinary so no trauma! Hes such a good happy dog! Thank Goodness!!!! I couldnt stop apologizing to him all day!

Oh my. Poor Noah!!! Thank goodness he's such a happy go lucky boy.

Regarding anal glands: Most common reasons that anal glands fill up and need to be expressed. In no particular order:
1.Obesity
2.tail set in relationship to the hip bone(high tail set) or other structure that sets the anus deep in relation to the hips. I have noticed tailless dogs have more problems.
3.Allergies(huge one maybe #1 cause)
4.diet
5.previous diarrhea or soft stool
6.Voiding behavior-walking while defecating or fast voiding
7.Weak anal tone-due to injury or disease
8.Previous anal gland disease-more prone to further disease.

My chihuahua had to get surgery a few years ago for an impacted anal gland. We had no idea until we saw a lump on her butt. Poor baby had to get butt surgery. Now she goes to the vet once a month to get her anal glands cleaned.
