Ours all wear collars 24/7. Like Earnie, they KNOW that collar off means brushing or bath. 
Has anyone seen this website?

The pups only wear collars when we leave. When I pull Deja's collar out, she walks over and stretches her neck for me.
We bought Darby a harness for flyball so that people could hold him but Deja is so passisive I can given her the stay comand and she will just wait there. It's hilarious. If you try to restrain her, she goes all submissive and pushes back in to you.
They make a collar that has a hand hold on it for flyball that I plan on getting.. I'll try to find the link.
Right now she has her walking collar, limited slip, her show choker and that's it.

mine wear theirs all the time too. Our dog warden is very strict about the dog license being on at all times. We could get a $150 fine if they dont have their tags on. She likes to go door to door and check.
I'm awful -- never have gotten mine licensed.

Those are delightful!! And if I buy one more collar..esp after DH bought everyone a Leashes by Design matched collar/leash set...well, I shudder to think!

Mine wear their collars 24/7. Their latest trick is to charge the front door whenever it is opened. This way
1) I have something to grab on to
2) They have ID in case they actually sucessfully escape.
Both have their fancy Leashes by Design Martingales, so I'm comfortable that they could get out of if it got caught on something (unless it just happened to catch on the middle ring - but that would be a fluke!
I did find Indy's in the middle of the backyward one day....seems like Bacca must have tore it off him while playing.

I should say both mine are microchipped (its mandatory here) but they do have to wear their rego number when they are outside the house. Technically that means if they escape as well, but the rangers charge the same fee for a stray whether or not they have a tag (as long as they have a microchip).

Romeo is microchipped and has a collar on 24/7. It's really light (I think it's a cat collar!) and has his id tag. Am thinking of scrapping the tag and getting one of those collars embroidered with my name and number coz he's been getting alot of mats in his ruff with this new tag!! Argh.
I've read about dogs choking coz the collars get caught but not everyone who picks up a lost dog here scans for a microchip (hey free goodlooking dog!). I'm thinking of putting "reward if found" somewhere obvious so people are more incentivised to return him. God knows I'd give anything to get him back if he's ever lost!!!

I found this website - Dog ID Collar
It does away with tags coz the info is embroidered on the collar itself. AND if you get the 3/8" width side release collars there is an option to buy the breakaway collar (which reduces the risks of strangulation coz it just comes undone) which is meant for cats, but it seems to suit the needs of those who want ID on their dogs 24/7 but are worried about collars getting caught.
