Mine will all sleep upside, usually at night, and usually up against me. Liam is the one who does it the most, even during the day.

On his back is Angus' favorite position.....especially when he is a bit warm....must be a good way to cool off
Well when you think about it when it's hot out, if you live in a hot area, don't you sleep on your back?
I remember when I got my first rescue shelties. I saw the oldest one sleeping paws up & I freaked. Not having had shelties before I just knew he was dead. Needless to say he rolled over to see why I was screeching & was fine. It amazes everyone that comes over. Too funny!

Diva and Birch sleep upside down all the time. I can't say I remember Ember or Justice ever sleeping upside down.
I think it is somewhat genetic maybe. All of Divas littermates sleep upside down and we have reports that alot of her kids do as well.
It seems to start early too. Here is a picture of Mira at 2 weeks old. No she didn't fall, she is asleep. From the time she was born she would sleep upside down most of the time. Talented little girl could even eat upside down. Her mom says she is quite a monkey now.

Sca would NEVER do something that undignified. He sleeps on his side or curled up. Spitfire seems to practice being a contortionist in his sleep. He was so wound out of shape in his kennel at the last tournament that we were debating which part we were seeing (it helps that he is a fluff ball).

Hollie always slept like that. Shelby does on occasion. The other night I got up to go the the bathroom and in my sleepy haze I saw something dark on the bathroom floor. I was trying to figure out what DH could have thrown on the floor. Then I realized it was Shelby sound asleep with all 4 legs in the air.

Bonnie doesn't sleep on her back. But she'll roll over for belly rubs from anyone willing to give them.
Annabelle doesn't expose belly.
Casey, Tara and Clarabelle ALL sleep on their backs. And Casey usually has his head on a pillow when he does.
Annabelle's peculiarity it that she has to sleep with her head on a pillow. When Clarabelle isn't asleep on her back, she also has to have a pillow. It is adorable.
