Hello All from Northern Canada

I've been trying to get an album up, but the photos don't want to upload for some reason. I'll try again tomorrow. Chinook is very photogenic, but then, I have not met a sheltie that wasn't! They are all so cute!

Another Shelhaven Pup!

Welcome to Sheltie Forums. You're going to love it here!

My furkid, Bacca, is a Shelhaven pup too! His Sire was Shelhaven's Alaris ("Alex") and his Dam is Laureate's Rachel Ray (co-owned with Ruffleith's).

I too have Bacca on a non-breeding. He's going to be slightly oversize (7 months old now), but he's got a gorgeous coat that is just starting to fill out into a red sable colour (which he gets from Mom)

Your babies are beautiful! I love the differences between the two. One so delicate and the other (I'm guessing that's Boston) so much taller. Who is Boston's Dam and Sire? Maybe they're related?? :smile2:

We just want to add to the other welcomes already posted.:smile2: My boy is a 2-1/2 year old sable and like all Shelties, he is super smart (and a super barker)! Not that we are bragging about the barking.:rolleyes2:

Hi Barb & Jan,,

thank you for the kind comments,, i worked midnites last night, and read absolutely every post on this website in a 12 hour shift , lol,, busy job i have ehh ? hehehehe.. So out of everything i read,, i learned i must look for a furminater and a cycling water dish while im down here in the city.. lol

Anyways this morning i went to Winnipeg, MB, So im not at home to check the lineage on Boston,, i have his CKC cert. in a frame on a wall in my basement, and for the life of me i cant remember if it was shelhaven dandyboy or something like that.. When i get home on tuesday i will check his lineage, and post it here, and pm u barb,, maybe our kids are related somewhere in the last few breedings :biggrin2:

take care all,, ps luv the Clarion hotel, they are pet friendly, my dogs like this place.. hehe

Man i just had a look at Bakka`s pics,, it is not hard to tell he`s a Shelhaven dog,, hes got that wide snout same as Boston,, and that same grin ...

Yeah, you really can see it! I think Ann (the moderator) also made reference to Shelhaven....don't know if she just knew the breeder or whether or not her baby was related or not. I'll have to look into it further. Wonder how many other Shelhaven pups are on this site?

One thing though that I've noticed in this forum....distance in miles/kilometers means nothing in the Sheltie world! I think if we were all able to trace the pedigrees back far enough - and in some cases (like Rassy and I), not very far - we would find our pups all related.

What a great thought! :smile2:

Alix (Karen's champion male) is having quite the winning year! My little guy, Barkley, is one of Alix's sons. Hope you enjoy the forum...look forward to hearing more about your guys! :wink2:

Bacca and Barkely may then be related too, as Bacca's Sire is Shelhaven's Alaris (Alex)

Quite the incestuous little world we live! :wink2:

Cousins!

Bacca and Barkley are definitely related, Barb, and probably Boston too! :biggrin2: Do you know who Bacca's mom was? Barkley's is Shelhaven Beauty Mark (Gemmy) co-owned with my breeder, Connie Nelson of CT. Connie is also my friend and show mentor, and Karen Henley's partner.

Bacca's Mom

Bacca's mom is Laureate's Rachel Ray (a local breeder in the Ottawa area - this is where I got my first Sheltie, Timber). Rachel Ray was co-owned by Laureate's and Ruffleith's (whom I actually got Bacca from).

From what I've seen, Shelhaven shelties are pretty "active" up here in Canada. The name seems to keep coming up time and again!

I think its pretty neat to find the connection. I'll have compare pics of Barkey, Boston and Bacca....coincidence that all the names begin with the letter "B"? Kinda spooky!
