By spinal stroke, I'm guessing FCE, unfortunately we do see that in shelties. I can remembering have a dog lose his appetite from it. Dogs appetite can be affected by pain or discomfort or having their routine disturbed. Possiblity a side effect from him losing his mobility? Depression? I don't know giving negative tests. I read in another post he is getting his movement back and that is great. I pray that he fully recovers.
The things we tested Chandler for after losing his appetite were complete series of blood tests CBC,we did an echo cardiogram, and ultra sound and nothing was found. He has been on medication for Pancreatitis since age 2 1/2. My vet was just saying recently he can't believe Chandler has survived with this for so many years. Of course he has been on medication since my vet made this discovery and he has frequent checkups. The tests I mentioned above are what I was referring to as negative. No Tumors, blockages, blood levels are good, etc.
I think I will call the neurologist on Monday that we saw when he had the spinal stroke and see if he has any suggestions my vet hasn't come up with and take him in to see him. He is at a great emergency hospital not far from me and they have an amazing practice with specialists in many areas.
Thanks so much for your response. I think you may be right with it maybe relating to pain. Dawn,Chandler and Gypsy
We've had some discussion as to how much white a CHW needs, which apparently quite a bit. I consider Abigail a harlequin or maybe a domino...
