Hello from Grand Bend Ontario

She is stunning!! Urgh the urge to get another one is so hard to resist when looking at that face! Obviously I would think Hannah or Bonnie are great names :smile2: I like Willow but then I thought how I have a tendency to shorten and cutesy my dogs names and shortening Willow or it in baby talk doesn't come out well hehe! I do like names that end in y or ie.
Enjoy all the sleep time and watching how cute it is. In the home environment even a shy Sheltie can seem very confident and outgoing. Include little bits of getting use to the environment everyday, like taking them for toilet time in different spots/surfaces and maybe download some car sounds/ other scary sounds and put them on really low to start her learning about those things. Still too early for walks in the big world this might help get her ready.

It's Hanna - thanks everyone. I narrowed it down to 3 - with Bella & Jewel being the other 2.

Have put up a couple more photos. Thank you for posting the photos of Cranberry, it's cool to see the transformation. He's a gorgeous fellow!

I wonder if my gal will darken up as well, she has some black at the edges of her ears and on one side of her back. It will be fun to watch her coat develop.

I can't tell you all just how sweet she is - she absolutely loves to snuggle up under my chin or tuck up on my shoulder.

Welcome to Sheltie Nation from Florida. Goodness, isn't that a whole lot of cuteness rolled into one little fuzzy fluff ball. I'm weighing in with my name choice, I like Sophie. I've sat here and stared at that darling little face for about 5 minutes and decided IMO that she looks like a Sophie, and I love that little "cup" she is sleeping in, that is adorable. Please, let us know. :winkgrin:
 
Oh my gosh, she can't get any cuter! I love her colouring and those ears are amazing! Now I'm really sad we don't get many merley pups being bred here :no:
 
Thank you all - she is a sweetie and now I have a serious question. Today is day 3 in her new home and I would expect her to be out exploring - she does follow me around but if I get more than 10 feet away she seems lost. I live on a cul de sac with only one other neighbour, so it's very quiet here. This morning we did a short 10 minute walk and she followed, tail wagging, intently focused on my feet ( she definitely has that herding instinct), but again when we got back in the yard and I ran just a little ways away and called her she went 'looking' the wrong way. Have an appointment at my vet's later this afternoon to get her checked out, but I have a bad feeling that her vision is not what it should be. Will let you all know when I get back.

you will definitely enjoy the coat development- there are lots of pix of Cranberry- seems like he was different every week.

Just got back from the vet and all is good with Hanna, good strong heartbeat, nice teeth - she does have a slight underbite, everything else checked out.

Oh and she weighs 4.6 pounds, so I think that is about average for 9.5 weeks.

funny thing is I gt her some liver treat but she's not overly excited about them - she does however like baby carrots.

You're her mama she won't want to be far from you for a little while :) that's so great that everything is okay with her.
I noticed Bonnie didn't like certain treats and either grew to like them or still doesn't. Dried liver is very hard so maybe a softer treat. In very tiny amounts (pin head sized!) shelties will do anything for cheese!
 
Thanks Hannah for the cheese treat suggestion - it turns out the treat bag she got from the vet today had some freeze dried cheese and she loves it! She's a very dainty eater - her morning 1/4 cup of kibble lasts until mid afternoon, still I'll be very careful with how many she gets in a day.
