I have a sable and white sheltie named Luke who was born January 28, 2007 and he is such a joy to my family and I and is beautiful.

Tonight, I was teaching him a new trick where I'd say, "Bye-bye!" and then shake my hand at the wrist and teaching him to do the same and he got it after a couple of times. Then, of course, I'd give him the treat.:wink2:

Well, after a while when I was on my knees teaching him to wave bye-bye, he started getting excited like he thought I was leaving him; so, he started jumping up on me, putting his paws on my shoulders and then getting down and going in a circle all around me in full body contact--it was so funny and I was laughing and kept telling him I wasn't going anywhere but was just teaching him a new trick--LOL! :biggrin2:

Welcome to the forum, chim. I am a newbie too, and I cannot believe how smart my sheltie is! She was completely housebroken at 10 weeks. I taught her to sit-stay, then shake hands, after about 3 tries, and she had it. She already heels, does a long lay-down, and I have only been working with her a few days a week because the weather has been so rotten to take her outside. She's also sassy sometimes, and loves to play. This is a good place to learn about this breed of dog.

Yeah, those shelties certainly are amazing. I can't get over how loyal they are. Sometimes, when I come home from work or wherever, he's there to greet me and he gets so excited, he's gotta either round around outside or in the house. I told my husband, it must be nice when someone loves you so much and they get so excited to see you, they just have to run around--LOL!! :biggrin2:

Yes another Sheltie lover aboard ! Welcome to you and Luke. I'm sure you will enjoy the forums. Yes, we are owned by our Shelties,:lol: they are so intellegent aren't they. I absolutely love the breed.:yes: Looking forward to seeing you on the forums, Chim.
