When you and Toffee's Mom start talking about your dogs one the same thread you can say Mr/Miss Toffee. It can get a little confusing when Calliesmom and I start talking about the Dixie girls (one of her shelties and my former sheltie are both named Dixie and both have the same nickname, Dix

My first question on the forum would be about her schedule. What is the best way of getting her adapted to my schedule in terms of sleeping? She is just under 9 weeks old and she is fairly good already. She goes to bed around 10:30-11:30 and wakes up around 6am to go to the bathroom. I try to get her back in her cage right after and sometimes she will continue to sleep until 7:30, but other times will just cry and whine for ages.
Is there anyway I can get her to sleep until 7:30-8am everyday consistently. What are some ways of reinforcing this behaviour?

mine get up at 6 am every day- occasionally earlier. never later unless we really played all day and part of the evening the day before.......
I must be really lucky - I'm a bit of a night owl myself so my Hanna seldom gets to bed before 11, usually it's about midnight. She has yet to wake me up - the first few days I got her up at 7:30 am and yesterday we both slept in until about 8:30. She's really funny in that when I open her crate in the morning she doesn't come running out but has to have a few stretches first, then she wants a cuddle and then we go outside which is where she really wakes up.
Today we had a collar on for the first time - drove an hour into town to see the inlaws (both 91). Also put on a leash and she did really well. They live in an apartment with lots of traffic nearby. I could not risk having her unleashed. So many first today, including an elevator ride - she stayed calm for the whole thing! Extra long play and cuddle when we got home today then she needed a long nap.

Welcome Andy and Toffee! You got questions? We got answers (sometimes they point every which way).
Chris! So true! You'll get lots of opinions on the forum, sometimes arguments, and often plain roll eyeing discussions.
But we mean well, usually! Bottom line....you have to spend time on the forum to learn whose opinion you trust, because you will get opinions all over the map.
And no....just because I'm the most posted, I'm not necessarily the best.
. Though, I do have some experience that I'm happy to share!

Looks like she's livin' large -- nice puppy digs. A really cutie too.

Edit: Oh, and on the schedule. I wouldn't react to her whining, and I would make a positive fuss over her if she lets you sleep. A disappointed tone goes a long way when training shelties. Praise takes you the rest of the way. A healthy treat, and a neck rub never hurts either. Works for Healey, and me. He used to wake me up. A little being grumpy/disappointed, and a maturing bladder (Healey's), and 's all goood.
