hello from n.y. new to board......

Hello from Tracy, and my Dasher (O:

We LOVE Sheltie Nation.
I wanted to tell our Sheltie people about Dasher's encounter at the groomers a couple days ago. Dashee (nickname) is always a good boy and this day was no exception. The groomer is also a friend of mine. She does a good job. Here goes the story; She found a rather large tumor on the inside of his right hind leg.
I always check my dogs all over when I brush them so I don't think it has been there for a long time. Something that seems to have popped up quickly.:eek2:
When we got home I called our Vet and was able to bring him in the next day.
Anyway, he is going to have surgery in a couple of weeks.
The good news it's only a fatty tumor:wink2:
However the surgery is always scary. My Vet is excellent and I am not to worried. This tumor is in a difficult spot but it needs to be done before it grows into the ***** area.
So my major comet is, going to the groomer can be life saving some times.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. "LOVE OUR SHELTIES":biggrin2:

You can be sure that those of us who pray will pray for Dasher. And those of us who don't pray will send positive thoughts for Dasher!:biggrin2:

Hi Tracy ~ thanks for your post. I'm going to continue the thread on Dasher and his lump in Health...look for more replies there. Thanks!

Hi, Tracy and Dasher......

You are both in my prayers and thoughts for Dashers surgery and outcome.
My Bingo who has past to rainbow bridge had a fatty tumor on his neck. It turned out to be just that  He never removed it.

Good luck to Dasher.........

paws crossed for a smooth recovery

thank you all for the warm welcome. I love being around other people who adore their shelties ! and yes they do OWN us !! I really do have to learn how to post some pictures and share them here. I live in n.y. and you don't see to many shelties. I only know of one near where i live. When i see them as I'm driving, I get so excited to see one. I have to say that I'm not used to such a vocal sheltie... Bingo who we had for 13 years wasn't very vocal yes he would bark at the leaves blowing in the street, or blinking christmas lights, but my Joey sounds like he is speaking to us, and he whines terribly when he is tired and wants his back rubbed so he can fall asleep :uhoh: NOT too spoiled .....
speaking of whinning...... better go he wants to go to sleep !
night everyone

Hi joeysmom!
I live on Long island. Finding the same lack of shelties here. Ended up going to New Jersey to get a puppy. Can't understand why there aren't more shelties around here. Where in NY are you?

Funny how Shelties seem to be abundant in some areas of the world and almost non-existant elsewhere.

Shelties are pretty big here, unfortunately most seem to be from cross-breed or backyard breeders. But we do have a couple of great show breeders in the area. Both my babies came from them.

One message I keep getting over and over again...either from someone walking down the street, or the vet clinic is: What a beautiful dog! How cute! How well-behaved.

Yeah, Shelties are the best!
