Hello from NJ - New Sheltie mommy

No matter what you name her, she will wind up acquiring a whole boatload of funny pet names! Here are some of ours:
Annie Laurie = Elizabeth Barrett Browndog, Annie Bellum
Layla = Principessa, Stinkrat, Baby Princess
Beckon = Colonel Underpants, Mister Kisser
Little Bits = Bitsy Boodle, Carmel Nip

Yeah, I know. But you wait...it'll happen!! :cool:
 
Welcome to you and your new little girl, I know there will be much love and fun in your baby's new forever home. It will really be fun watching her grow to adulthood. Congratulations! :fl :smile2:

My husband is the master at this, not only for the pets but for the kids, too:

Aaron (our son) = Antler boy, Marshmallow man
Hannah (our eldest daughter) = Tweetie, Kukaboo Kid, Hannah Barberra, Long-legged Big-mouth
Shoshana (our younger daughter) = Shokie Bo, Shobie-Dobie
Casanova (the cat) = Pooh Kittie, Pyscho Cat
Oberon = Puppykin, P-Loomis

And those are only the ones used on a frequent basis; there's always the ones that are used on the spur of the moment. . .
 
let's see..
Gavin is mostly puppymonster or fuzzbucket. when he has a pup, he was the piddler. He comes to me when I call him just about anything if my tone of voice is right :)

And I don't have to call him at all if I sit down on the floor and open my arms (and he can see me do this) cause he gets but rubs and scratches :)

The lab mix puppy's mommy was hit by a car, so they put those puppies w/ the sheltie mom and she took care of all of them like they were her own. These 2 puppies are best buds.

I am sure I will be on this site asking lots of questions.

I grew up with a sheltie (don't think she was a purebred, but she was mostly sheltie). We have a 2yo labrador retreiver and a 11-1/2yo persian cat. All females - my poor husband... We have a nice sized fenced in yard. I walk my current dog twice a day and do agility with her. We own a boat and the lab comes out with us - she is a swimmer (not sure if shelties like water or not, but she will learn to swim I am sure by default).

She is a beauty! I have three shelties myself. Kinda like potato chips trust me. I currently have an 8 month old under my feet. lol They are great foot warmers! I named Khyber after a river in Afghanistan. Looking at her now it's hard to believe she fit in my hand when she was born. I bred my female Kessie, and we got two healthy pups out of it. Both born into their forever homes. I can tell you from experience that you are in for a great trip! Khyber is my first puppy, and honestly potty training was a breeze! I do recommend crate training.... They are sneaky little heathens! My best advice is to study information on the breed. It helped me a lot. Shelties are the clowns of the dog world. Khyber talks, and howls when she is excited, or happy. I have never had a dog make the sounds this spunky little girl does! Half of the time I think she is trying to impersonate a rooster. lol

My husband came up with Sabrina, which I actually like - finally, we are agreeing on a name. LOL

We are big car fanatics, so were trying to come up with a name based on a car. Our lab is named Shelby and it fits her well. I mentioned Porsche - but say it Porsch-a. Most car names fit boy dogs better than girls.

She is absolutely adorable! I have three myself. Two are local rescues. Good job on that by the way! My youngest Khyber was an intentional breeding. I got lucky and got mom's papers when I rescued her. We had two pups and both were born into their forever homes. I think shelties are the clowns of the dog world. Hope you have many wonderful years with your new best buddy. Oh by the by...... Females adult coats can come in as late as four years. Trust me I was starting to disrepair that Kessies coat would ever be glorious. She turned four, and overnight boom! lol
