Hi everyone, my name is Lauren and hopefully at some point in my life I will get a Sheltie or two or three. :biggrin2:

I currently have a 6 year old, black, male German Shepherd Dog (GSD) named Sinister and a 2 year old, black spotted, male Dalmatian named Draven. I also have 2 female calico cats named Mayhem and Wicked.

I dog sit for friends and family, I occasionally watch a female Australian Cattle Dog mix, a female Min Pin, a female Doberman, a female GSD and a male Doberman.

I grew up with a male Lhapso Apso/Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix and a female GSD/Husky mix.

At one point I lived with a male Rottweiler and I used to own a male GSD/Husky mix and a female GSD.

I feed high quality kibble and I find socialization and training to be very important.

But I have no experience with the Sheltie. I am hoping to learn as much as I can about the breed here. I look forward to getting to know you all. :smile2:
 
Welcome, Lauren and your wicked household! :lol: That is quite the selection you have there...I am sure there is never a dull moment.

Shelties are wonderful souls, but quite different from most of the breeds you have and/or pet sit for...so getting to know more about them before possibly acquiring one is a wise move.

I have had GSD in the last 30 years, and can only give Trini right
Shelties are wonderful souls, but quite different from most of the breeds you to have and / or pet her too ... so getting to know more about themself before eventuelt acquiring one is a wise move.

I realized after the first week with my Minnie that I was forced to put all my "45 years of dog knowledge on the shelf" because of the Sheltie is very sensitive.

I do plan on meeting with a reputable Sheltie breeder before purchasing one. I went that route with my Dalmatian as well.

I have a neighbor that has a Sheltie, an Australian Shepherd and 2 Border Collies, I love their pack! They are all pretty much the same size and seem to mesh really well. It's definitely a pack I could see having at some point because all 3 breeds are on my "would love to have" list along with a Doberman, a Pomeranian and a Shiba inu.
