I have a 5 year old former puppy mill mama named Bela, who has a lot of anxiety over noises (thunder, gunshots, construction work, etc.). We live in the country, so it's mostly not a big deal.
I have found the Thundershirt an excellent tool for dealing with doggie anxiety! I was skeptical at first, but we had some major storms (and two nearby tornados) the first week we had her (about six months ago). She doesn't hide under the bed anymore, and in fact, she doesn't get too fazed by anything unless she's outside - hunting season has just started
Give your new puppy a little time to settle down and you'll see the "real" dog underneath in no time!

I am sure with some time,love,patience Lacey will do wonderful. I do have to also agree with everyone about the Thundershirt.
We have one for Mia,our blind & deaf double merle. It has been the most wonderful thing for her. Although now at nearly 19 months old,Mia has done remarkable with out the short on,but we do still use it if we are going places,or meeting new people.

Hello!!!! I also agree with everyone.....I have a thundershirt for Maggie-she's terrified of thunder & lightning. I also have Sadie, a 10 mos. that is afraid of ANY loud noise while she's outside. But, she's a little "Devil Dog" when she's inside in her comfort zone!!
