Hello from sunny florida

I live in Southwest Florida and we are owned by 2 shelties. Maggie who will be 16 in December and Zak who will be 3 in October. Both are tri's and I could not imagine life with out them. Good luck on your search.

Sumac your right near me. I moved last month from Naples, was there 13 years now I am in PG.
Do you have any issues with the SW Florida heat and you babies? Do they mind the heat?

They are not in it much. I do walk Zak twice a day morning around 7:30 to 8:00 and in the evening around 7:00. It is muggy. I don't have them out in the heat of the day- although some times when I take Zak out he wants to lay down and have to get him back in side.
I can't wait for it to cool off. If we did not have A/C that would be a problem.

How do you like Punta Gorda? It is a nice little town.

I was waiting to hear about a sheltie that needed rehomed. She sounded perfect, she was so pretty in her picture, 8 years old and liked other animals so I was ahead of the game but someone had called before me so I was second if it didnt go through. It went through. I had prayed that she would go to the right home so I guess it wasnt meant to be for me and I truly want to be happy someone will love her but my heart did break a bit.
I was really unfit to be around last night. Dinner was tense, I was snappy. My companion lost a brand new storage container and I made him search for it giving him a lecture how he could lose something using it the very first time and well I am sure he was scratching his head thinking what is this all about? I finally apologized and had a cry that I never got the call that I could come meet the little beauty. I couldnt sleep most of the night, finally around 4 am I turned in and resigned myself back to my search, though my heart is heavy and isnt into another disappointment just yet.
I did find a breeders listing in my state though his fee is much higher than I anticipated paying so I dont know what to do right now. My friend said when in doubt sit quietly a wait. I am lousy at waiting.

I know it's no fun, but think of it this way--the perfect dog will come your way at the right time.

When I went to get my first sheltie after graduating from college I went and visited a dog that I thought sounded perfect. I was literally ready to take him home. We went to meet him and I wasn't sure if he was the right one. I kept trying to convince myself, but we decided to give ourselves a week to think it over. During that week we heard about a dog we knew nothing about--the breeder had just decided to place him. We went to visit and were 100% sure!

My boy is PERFECT for us. I was stressed and worried when we weren't sure about the first dog, but things could not have turned out any better for us. Your dog will make his or her way to you at the right time. Keep your chin up!
