Hi Everyone!
I found this forum while researching dermatomyositis. My name is Jennifer. I am married to a Army soldier and we have a two year old. I have two shelties, one is five years old and the other is a year old. Our girls are our babies. I have been a nervous wreck all day today because I dropped our youngest sheltie off for surgery this morning. My son cried and cried, he just didn't understand why we were leaving Ellie. They are currently testing Ellie for autoimmune skin diseases among other things. I am so used to having healthy pups that I am heart broken seeing my girl uncomfortable. I am very comfortable with our vet so I know she will get the best treatment possible. Thanks for this group and I look forward to using this forum to learn more about treating this disease.

Welcome to the Sheltie Nation Forum!

It will be great to get to know you and your shelties better.

How did your little one do at the vet today? Did everything turn out OK?

Surgery went well!

They called me at noon and said she did great. I was happy to pick her up and bring her home. Now, to play the waiting game. I am nervous regarding the outcome. I don't have any doubt in my mind that we will be able to take care of things, it is just having the actual answer that makes me nervous.

I understand your heart ache for your pup. My Gypsy has been an unhealthy pup from the start and had her first outbreak at 1 1/2 yrs which was taken care of fairly quickly a year ago August. Last April she had another and we have been battling ever since to totally clear it up. We go to see a Dermatologist on Dec.30. I will be posting updates as to her progress when we go. You are welcome to PM me also if you have any questions as to what we have been going through. I'd also be interested in what you find out about your pup. Praying all will be well.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I feel for you as I have a sheltie currently being investigated for severe colon issues, and the not knowing is the worst bit.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and your girl that you get some results back and are soon on the roa to recovery.
