Help needed!

Once they catch on, they will just take off! It's really fun to watch a dog do something that you didn't need to teach them. I do tracking with Gio, and it always amazes me how he will follow a track to the end to get his treat. We did some of these little games at home to get him used to relying on his nose, but aside from that, there was really no training involved. Just pure doggy instinct.

Keep at it. They will have a light-bulb moment one day, and then watch out! :lol:
 
I play Hide and Seek with Edan every day when I come home from work. I'll find somewhere to hide, behind a door, on a porch, behind a bush or tree, etc. and he'll run all over the place trying to find me - including checking the car. (My husband has to open the door so he can see that I'm not in the car.) When he finds me it's a big party with a happy bouncy Sheltie and me laughing, petting him and telling him how good he is.

I'd love to find some more brain toys for him to play with. We have a Buster Cube (which we use to feed him because he eats too fast from his bowl) and he has that thing down to a science. While working on our Agility exercises makes him think, I'd still like to have other mental outlets for him.
 
Ah!! Ok, I see where I got it wrong. Silly me, I happily assumed he knew how to turn on his nose!! I will start over and make it easier for him first and gradually build the difficulty. I'd like to someday be able to rely on him to find me if I ever get kidnapped or something. :lol:
