My half-sheltie rescue pup (1 yr) had hip dysplasia surgery on one side so they had to shave up her flank and across half her rear. Her flank hair is starting to come back but after 6 weeks her rear is bald as a cue ball. Winter is coming and I'm now thinking she's actually going to have to wear a dog coat to go out. That makes me sad. The remaining coat is so thick and beautiful. Sigh.
Help! Will my Sheltie's hair grow back?

One of mine had the same surgery, also at a young age. It took a full six months for her coat to grow back where it was shaved. At 1 year, your girl is just growing in her adult coat, so be patient! It will take time (and yes, you may need a coat for this winter) but it will come back.
