Help with crate training?

Recently got a little puppy and I am having troubles with crate training. She has a little area, with a grass potty pad, a kennel, and food. She keeps laying on the potty pad, and going potty on the floor.. How can I make her go on the grass pad when she doesn't know the difference between yes and no?
 
What you are doing doesn't sound anything like crate training.

Crate training is keeping the puppy in a crate small enough that it can fit comfortably. You do not want it to be big, or the puppy will find a place to go to the bathroom. When you take the puppy out of the crate you bring it right to where you want them to go to the bathroom, which is usually outside and give lots of praise when they go. Key is to go directly to the potty place when the puppy wakes up, and after the puppy has played for a little while before it falls asleep.

And absolutely take it out right after it eats. Full tummies press on the bowel and bladder, and the dog will go on the floor if you are not ready to let it out.
 
Remember how young your pup is. Absolutely no way the puppy knows to hold it or even has the ability to control the bladder/bowel very well at all. There is no way that that young a puppy will recognize it should go on a pad and not the floor. Sleeping on the soft thing and going to the bathroom NOT where it is sleeping is about right for its little brain right now. Remember how often you have to go out too! Your life for a while is going to be taking the little thing outside more times than you can count! Don't expect too much this early. Dogs don't have complete control of all the potty muscles until about 5-6 months. Don't get discouraged. It's a little little baby.
 
This was a trick my friend used and she had great success. She put lots of pads down. Then one by one she would remove one. Her pup got the hint to use the one that was left.

It took a little while to do this but she said it worked.
