Herding Classes in NGA

If it's being run by the Baileys, it's something you don't want to miss. They are primarily border collie people, but the Atlanta-area rottie club used to hold obedience matches on the Baily farm. (This is where my friend's GSD did the infamous "Dump on Recall" manever.) However, I think the farm is in Dawsonville rather than Cumming. I'm about an hour from Cumming myself, and wish I could go.

Hubert Bailey's daughter was the one who instinct tested both Neechee and Max, and told me Neechee had the most instinct she'd seen in a Sheltie. So the place has a special meaning to me.

The Canine Ranch in Canton, GA

We took our 6-month-old Sheltie to the herding event in April (2012). His instincts took over, and he had a grand time. We went as guests of the GA Sheltie Club. The Canine Ranch is a great place, with training of all kinds, events, etc. We recommend it.

I used to train at Bailey's farm YEARS ago. That's where I worked my Border Collies and Neechee, the only Sheltie (at the time) who would try to herd the cows in the adjoining pasture instead of the sheep. :rolleyes2:

Hubert Bailey's daughter did Max & Neechee's herding instinct testing at the Perry, Georgia cluster dog shows back in 1997. (They passed!)

I go to the Canine Ranch now in Canton. If anyone wanted to give it a try Brian Cash has been a great instructor. At the Canine Ranch I felt that we got the one on one attention The place in Ballground was great but people that went there would bring several dogs and I didn't see any progress with Darcy. I think that place was great since it was cheap and it let me see if Darcy would enjoy it and learned the basics.
