Nope in true Sca style he will shift his feet and give you a look like 'but this should have happened' and almost look guilty for his impatience That or bark but that is usually exceed vs demanding

I don't think Bailey does a foot stomp, but she does the noise-less bark when she wants something.

She'll first bark, but she knows I won't react when she barks, so when she wants to tell me that she wants something (a treat or a toy), she'll chomp her jaw as if she is barking, but doesn't make a sound.

I think it's adorable.

Randi! Kyara does the same thing! She does it a lot in agility when I mess up and she's annoyed we have to start over. It seems the more tired she is the more she does it, seems like doing the sound of barking is too exhausting.

Oh yes. Bentley is king of the foot stomp! He stares at us and stomps his back feet when he wants to go outside or wants to eat. So cute!

Does Bentley's butt wiggle too?

Sandstorm does this too!! He barks and then makes silent barking mouth movements!!

Yes I have one foot stomper here. Want to guess which one it is?

Yup its Ember, my demanding girl. She is the master. SHe will set herself up in a perfect show stack and stare right at you and if you didn't give her what she wants she stomps both of her back feet. If you continue to ignore her, she will stomp her front feet. But she will stay in the show stack at all times. Not a foot goes out of place just up and down.

I've never seen a dog do that. Just the butt wiggle part. That's adorable! I love sheltie behavior and the little things they do.

Neechee used to do the whole "silent barking" routine but took it one step further. He'd bark, then I'd say, "Oh no, use your INSIDE voice." And he would "whisper-bark" - just under his breath. SO CUTE!

Bela does the foot-stomp thing, but only with me - she's still a little introverted with the hubs (and everyone else).

Both my Shelties have been EXCELLENT communicators with body language and (especially) eyes. The dog would look at what he/she wanted (like the treats on a shelf) then back at me. Back and forth, back and forth until the stoopid hoomon would get the hint. I'm not above teasing them a little by looking at them and looking at whatever it is they want until frustration barking sets in. But both my dogs figured that one out very quickly.
