Hi, I am proud mum of two shelties. Eight year old DunKen and almost tree year old Jadie. I also am foster mom to an old blind collie named Lass. Look forward to meeting you all. I should mention that I raised six kids, non-fur type, a daughter and five sons and I have 14 grandchildren. My little home is filled with sheltie antics and is the last stop for the foster collie who is blind, old and unadoptable. She is a sweet natured girl, very loving and tries to play with her littler brother and sister and that turns out to be very funny sometimes.

Welcome!
How sweet of you to foster the senior Lass! How nice that she gets to spend the rest of her life in a happy forever home.

I also say good for you to provide love and a safe harbour for a Senior like Lass.

Hi Dunkensmum,
That is so wonderful of you to do such a great thing as this. I wish more of us would be able to do such a great deed. I worked as an adoption counselor at the local humane society The Cascades Humane Society, in Jackson, Michigan and always commended our volunteers because some would foster dogs and cats that couldn't come stay at the facility with us because the old place was very small and couldn't possibly fit everyone. I found many Shelties and Sheltie mixes and Collies forever homes and to this day it makes me feel as if I helped not only the wonderful dogs and puppies but the people owned by them now.
So again "GOOD FOR YOU"!

Hello!

Welcome from another Tennessean! Good job on giving a senior a place to live out the rest of her life! I have a soft spot for seniors. We took in a black Miniature Schnauzer several years ago that was 12yrs old and had multiple health problems, so she couldn't be adopted out. She lived until the age of 15, so we got to enjoy 3yrs with her. We just recently adopted out a 7yr old Pomeranian that had been dumped into the shelter when his owners moved. It's sad how people can dump the older ones, especially when they had them for so many years. I know I couldn't do it. I miss doing rescue sometimes, so we still help on occasion, but only one at a time and have to be particular since we do have a toddler daughter. I don't think I could ever get out of it. I dedicated 10+yrs of my life to rescue, so I can't see me ever giving it up completely. I just wanted to say welcome and how terrific it is of you to give Lass a home. :smile2:
