Hi from British Columbia

Holy cow, that dog has the life!!! Stunning photos of a wonderful and obviously much loved Sheltie. My girls Faith and Brooke just had their first snow experience last winter, since we live in Southern California, we had to drive to Yosemite to find snow. But they LOVED it, especially Faith who is my Tri-color.

Really enjoying your photos and stories about Drake, what a fabulous dog. :yes:
 
We are so smitten with him, we have a friend (that he knows very well) fly out from Australia to stay in our house while we have 2 weeks away in Mexico each January (He actually stays for 6 weeks & ski's his legs off so it's a win/win thing ;) ),.... Otherwise we'd be buying a seat for Drake on the flights..... Our medium term plan is to eventually buy our own place down there to spend several months at a time over the winter,.... & Drake WILL be coming with us for that,..... So we'll just have to buy a place that suits his needs.... ;)

Taken out walking & we were throwing snowballs up for him to catch,.... Got the timing just right with this shot....

Early season snow,..... In summer we have the 17th tee of the golf course just down from our back door,.... It made a good spot for him to rest here....

The hollow in the distance is a fairly deep sand bunker on the golf course,..... Drake had gone off to investigate & again the timing was good because he was out of shot, but his path wasn't.

When we go for walks, we always have a "point man" .......

He also makes sure we are keeping up the right pace too....... He stops & waits until we catch up. 9 times out of 10 now we don't bother with his collar,.... He knows where he is & how to get home,.... Never had a problem with him,.... Plus he likes the freedom & being trusted.

Drake is really a beautiful dog :yes:

Minnie also loves snow, but the winters here in our country have begun to become milder so we have rare long periods of snow now

Ski season is definitely Drake's favorite time,..... & he loves it when we go snowshoeing .....


Here he is being "point man" when Danielle & I had a friend come over from Australia & we spent time exploring.

& when he gets too far in front of us,..... He just stops & waits...... & that lets me get shots like this...... (He was also looking at another dog that had just appeared on the trail & was waiting for permission to go & say hi)

Sure he will get used up all the things a Sheltie is created for :hugs
 
So we had a pile of fresh snow overnight & it's still chucking it down......


Seems that Drake has turned into a bit of a snow plough.....

Danielle sent me some quick vid of Drake this morning too

Just walking on the trail behind the house.....





& this is what you do with those pesky snowballs,..... You just pull them off & spit them out.....
