Thanks for the welcome
Someone asked about Noel's story so here it is. Noel was surrendered to the rescue group because her owner got married and there were new kids in the family that Noel was afraid of. She didn't do anything to the kids but hid from them. She does seem to be frightened of loud kids but there are a couple sweet young boys in my neighborhood that kiss and hug Noel and she has no problem with them. She has an odd habit of sleeping in the bathroom. I'm guessing maybe that was where her previous owner kept her so it's her safe place. When I first got her she spent all of her time hiding in the bathroom but now she spends a lot more time in the living room with me. She really is a doll, very well behaved, no bad habits. Her previous owner also had her debarked which I think is an awful thing to do. I know Shelties can be big barkers but you can train them. I never had a problem with Dakota barking, he was trained that he could only bark outside when we were playing or if someone came to the door. So Noel has a little "yip" that she does. Really freaked me out the first time I heard it since the rescue forgot to tell me she had been debarked. Noel is also hyper thyroid so she is on thyroid medication. She is about 10-12 pounds overweight but the rescue said she was also overfed and got very little exercise previously. So she is on a diet food for seniors and gets several brisk walks a day which she loves. She loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbed. I hope to have a good picture to post soon, she won't pose for a pic - she gets bored waiting and wanders off! I need to get quicker with the camera! Everyone that has met her - the vet, the groomer, neighbors - are so surprised that someone would give her up, especially after 8 years. A lot of people have said they admire my choice in rescuing a senior dog. I know I won't have that many years with her but I fell in love the moment I met her. It breaks my heart that she was given away in her senior years and has had to go through a foster home and now get adjusted to me and my home. But she is adjusting well and seems happy now. I know I rescued her but she also rescued me from the awful sadness of losing Dakota. So that is the "Noel story"! Oh yea, she was born on 12/26 so that explains the name. I thought about changing it but thought it would be too confusing to her.
