Hi everyone!

It's been many years since I've been on the forums.

I wasn't sure I'd ever get another dog after I lost my last sheltie. A couple months ago I thought maybe I'm ready, but all of the rescues had special needs I couldn't meet (couldn't do stairs etc.) Then a few weeks ago I finally told the rescue I was ready, and to be on the lookout for a good fit. They had one but she would be a challenge.

I can't say no to a Sheltie challenge, so I adopted Lucy. She is 6 1/2, from a retired breeder. Was only used for breeding, never a house pet. She was scared of the world. She wouldn't let me near her for 2 days.

After a very challenging first 3 weeks with many setbacks (and freak outs!), I am finally getting to know the really loving, and sweet Lucy.
I get tail wags, tons of kisses, and she has stopped freaking out in obedience class. She had her first groomer appt. tonight, and although nervous, handled it great.

I know I've written a book, but had to share a little about the newest love of my life!

Welcome back!:biggrin2: I'm so happy to hear about you and Lucy! She sounds like a real sweetie and it's obvious she has found the right home. I'm very excited to here many stories of adventures of you and your little girl. As you know, we love pix and would love to meet her face to, um... screen!:rolleyes2:

I'm not sure how to post a picture, but here is a link:

She has recently discovered the rewards of affection, and love that come from trusting a person. She goes a little crazy at times, and treats me like I'm a dog. I have been nipped on the nose several times in her excitement of showing me love. Lots of training work to be done!

She was treated like a livestock animal used only for breeding until now. Grrrrrrrrrrr

This is a new and sometimes overwhelming world for her. It is so much fun to watch her transform.......love rescues!

She's beautiful!:smile2: Glad that she's adjusting well - it makes me sad that mothering puppies was all she was good for in the eyes of her previous owner.:(

Lucy is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for giving her a good safe loving home. She deserves every bit of happiness you can provide, and in turn she will make you very happy of loved. Rescues can be a challenge as you clearly know - but oh how very worthwhile. Kindest of regards and blessings from Robby, Ceilidh and Will.

Welcome.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for adopting your sweet Lucy.

Now she has the "good life" she so much deserves.

ps Lucy is extremely beautiful!

Welcome back to the forum. Thanks for sharing Lucy's story. It sounds like she has a loving and safe home. She is a pretty Sheltie and that was a good pic. Good luck!

Hello from South Philadelphia.

A little Mamma loving goes a long way. I'm glad your new babe is adjusting well. I hope you have many more years together.

My Beau is a rescue too, I've had him now for five years. I can hardly believe it.
