My name is Cindy and I'm new to the site. I lost my beautiful sheltie Allie of 13 wonderful years and it still hurts but I love seeing all the other wonderful shelties in the world. I will own nothing but a sheltie. They are very special children to us all. I have mixed emotion though when the time will come to fill this empty place in my heart.

Welcome and sorry to hear about your loss. You will know when it is time. I lost my first and only pet, Dorian, a tri, last year and thought I would not be able to get another sheltie for a long, long time. But, I found myself, surfing the web daily a week after he died. A month and a half later, I was picking up my new puppy at the airport, and then 4 months later, I flew out to get a second one. Dorian will always hold a very special spot in my heart and I will never forget him, but I needed the love that only a dog can provide. I was alone and the way I see it, Dorian sent me two shelties to keep me company until the day that we are all reunited forever. Take your time, and you will know when to get another furbaby.

Welcome to the group! You have come to the right place to share your thoughts and feelings about shelties. I'm sorry about the loss of Allie. There are many of us that have lost our beloved shelties and know what you are going through. Only you can decide when it is right to get a new buddy to be there when you get home. Everyone has their own pace. I know we started adopting sheltie girls about 3 weeks after I had my golden of 14 years put down. We ended up with 3 girls because I loved them so much. We lost Zoe in Jan. I think we are ok with 2 for now. Everyone here is great and we will all cry and laugh with you and your stories. I hope you like it here as much as the rest of us!

Hi from Iowa right back

You will love this forum so much... the pictures alone will make you want to find a new sheltie, but as Mcguiregirl said, you will know when it's time. The combined Sheltie knowledge on this forum is incredible! And I know what you mean by never owning anything else but a sheltie, they are "unique in all the world." Welcome!

They are all so special. Only you will know when it is time to offer a new little sheltie a home. Everyone grieves and heals at their own pace. It does get easier as time passes. You never will replace your sweet sheltie angel but who ever you choose as your new fur baby will make his/her own place in your heart.

Welcome to the forum. I understand your feelings about replacing a beloved companion. We recently lost a long-time furry friend of another breed and were determined not to replace him and go through that loss again. We lasted almost three months before getting Duncan, our first Sheltie :o

We're all so glad you're here, Cindy. Please know we feel for you -- most of us have lost dear Sheltie loves. Heal in your own time, and meanwhile, enjoy the forum!

Welcome to the Forum, Cindy. It's so difficult when a loved one passes on, but Allie will live forever in your heart and mind.
