Hi from Montana

Southeastern CT anyone?

We have a campground we could fill! Other than the fact, the owner is not a big "dog" fan. She did love Cleveland, and her mother owns a Sheltie! From Ottawa, we are what, 8 hrs? Poland and Singapore, well that is another story!
Alabama, ride Amtrack out of Huntsville to Washington and then to Hartford, Montana, I don't have a good solution there.
 
I really think we're on to something here...at least for the Eastern Seabord folk.....A work in progress for next summer perhaps.
 
I agree this is great idea. It would be great to be able to meet all of you. Maybe we can make this work eventually. I live in New Jersey.

If you are planning a party you need to all come to the UK, I can find us a nice field full of sheep for all the shelties to herd! :wink2:

Congrats on your first Sheltie. My wife & I are still learning too, but this seems to be the place for helpful "Sheltie parents." Always nice to meet another Sheltie owner. :)
 
I Have A Scathingly Brilliant Idea

You know, every year there's a big Gathering at Sunnybank, the home of Albert Payson Terhune (he wrote all the Lad books about collies). It's held on the grounds of the old Sunnybank estate in Wayne, New Jersey. The local hotel, a La Quinta, allows dogs. I've gone for the past three years (missing this year because of Beckon coming). It's always the weekend of August closest to 14/15/16. There's loads of room at Sunnybank and hundreds of Collies (and some Shelties), and everyone is so friendly. Maybe we could meet there? The hotel is cheap -- under $80 a night, and lots of people double up and share rooms. Here's the website -- this might make it all easy, and we could all be together and have a Sheltie Dinner on Saturday night. It's doable for 2010!!

There's no obligation to attend any of the quasi-formal events. Lots of folks just bring their Collies and Shelties, set up X-pens and blanlets, and visit, picnic and have a great time!!

That would be an 8 hour drive for me....you could be on to something! I'll bring the Mohitos!!!!
