Hi from NC :)

I already have a clicker in my shopping basket at Amazon.com!

Going to write an email today to the breeder, I'll add the dew claw question.

Also, considering buying this:

We both have parents that are not big fans of inside dogs and will need something to keep the puppy in while visiting, keeping them off the floors. I know you guys are fans of x-pens which may be a later purchase.

I just ordered & recieved Mia's new x-pen from the same folks! How much of a coinsidance is that.

I opted for an 8 panel metal x-pen for her. They are a good seller to buy from.

Welcome!

I have that soft x-pen. Although, I think I have the next size up. Mine is definitely taller than 2 feet. I think it's great. I have used it indoors and at the park. Bailey has no issues with it. I would be cautious using this type of a pen with a young puppy. She might try to chew it.

I would be a little worried about her chewing on that kind of playpen. That's something you could consider as she gets older.

I highly recommend this for in the house:

It has been great for us. You can get it online, ebay, etc...

For us, that would be an option at our place but it is good to hear the other is ok as well. Like I said, we need something that has a bottom with some space for our parents houses or else my dad might chuck her in the old dog pen. Nice fence but outside. That would not be something I would put her in and then leave, more likely just when I couldn't watch her as closely (dishes, laundry, computer work, etc).

It's not a permanent bottom. A puppy can easily chew it.

What about using an old blanket as a floor for a plastic or wired xpen?

Hi and welcome to the forum! :smile2:I think the waiting is half the fun, while you get everything ready and try to think of a name - or have you already chosen one? It's nice as you will be able to have regular updates from the breeder on how the puppies are developing, something I missed out on with my Revel but thoroughly enjoyed with Yogi. Don't worry, those weeks really will fly past!!

We're so young, we don't have old stuff... ok 24 isn't THAT young but still. We do have an indoor/outdoor carpet (rubber backed) in our laundry room, would that work under an xpen? I hate the carpet so it would be a great excuse to ditch it after its been played on for awhile :)

Edit: Breeder got back to me, pictures this weekend and dew claws were removed at 3 days old. She said 3 of the girls had full collars and one did not with only a white streak as to markings so far. I can also visit at the two week mark but as it is around a 2 hour drive, I'm going to try to hold out til 4 weeks otherwise I'll want to be there every weekend!
