Hi. New member. My family and I own an elderly sheltie named Crash. We took him in a couple years ago after his owners divorced and essentially abandoned him. At the time, we were living in Canada, but we relocated to West Virginia last fall so my wife could be closer to her family.

I think I'll have lots of questions. Neither of us have owned a dog before, but we've got the basics down and Crash is an extremely affectionate pet, so it was easy to bond with him. I'm not used to this Mid-Atlantic heat and humidity, though, so this first burst of summer is concerning me. Crash doesn't seem bothered yet, though.
 
Welcome. The change from Canada to West Virginia is definitely a weather change but Crash will get used to the hotter, more humid summer time...I think dogs adapt faster than we humans do to changes.

As Calliesmon said...we love to see pics of new shelties joining our SN family!

Welcome. And good on you for taking him on. Don't concern yourself too much about the weather - dogs seem to adapt much better than us humans.
 
He did fine last night. We're getting June heat and humidity this week. It was kinda warm and stuffy on the top floor when we went to bed. I expected Crash to sleep downstairs where it's cooler, but he came up at bedtime, curled up on the floor, and stayed till morning.

You have found the best spot on the internet for every thing you need to know about our wonderful beloved breed. As others have stated, we love pictures here, we have a daily quota of ooh's and ahh's that must be meet and furbaby pictures satisfies that! :fl :hugs
