Hi from SoCal

I know it's a shocker a Sheltie that barks. Honestly I didn't think he'd be a barker, when I used to visit the person who had the Sheltie litter, the other puppies barked but not Shadow. Once I got him home I mentioned he's been barking a lot and she said well, he was the most vocal of the bunch. I think the little stinker knew and he wanted to go home with me!

Thank you everyone, I will post a picture just as soon as I figure out how to do it. For those who live in San Diego, I live in North County.

Welcome! I'm new to the forum also.

I was born and raised in North County (Oceanside) and then moved to the Murrieta/Menifee area almost a year ago when I bought a house.

Hahahha! Wow, shelties really are intelligent aren't they?! What a funny arrival story! Welcome to Sheltie Nation!

Welcome to the forum. I have one of those strange shelties that doesn't bark. Sometimes I wonder if she is really a sheltie or another breed of dog wearing a sheltie suit.

The non barking is a mixed blessing though. I had wanted a watchdog. Oh well, on balance it is probably a fair trade off.

Welcome to the forum. My first sheltie didn't bark much or I taught him well. Then I got another one and suddenly the first started barking some. Then I got a third and I losing the battle. Diva always has something to say. She knows quiet but thinks it only applies for 30 seconds. I find the more exercise she gets and the more activities I do with her the quieter the whole house becomes.:smile2:

Can't wait to see pictures of your boy.

Oh, they really do love to bark. I feel for you.

Welcome to the Forums and we look forward to hearing more about your very talkitive little one.

So Shadow didn't bark until you brought him home? He knew he wanted to go home with you and was a good little boy during your visits. hehehe. Maybe his name should be Lil Stinker instead.

Welcome to the board. And another yay for SoCal. I'm up in Orange County, but have been visiting San Diego a lot for agility trials.

As for Shelties barking, um mine doesn't. Oh wait that'd be Miko (I don't think he's a Sheltie anyways). Koji loves to talk.....talk back that is.
