Yes..these mind mannered puppies had a moment tonite. It was short lived, and I think Trapp was showing, that he is the big brother, and he wanted his space.

They were both on the bed tonite while I was folding laundry, and Jasper was being a normal playful puppy. Trapp on the other hand was trying to catch his beauty sleep..when I think Jasper got a bit to rambunctious playing, and accidentally got his butt where Trapp didn't want it!

So that ensued a deep "get outta my face growl" and a little grumble from Trapp. As if to say get your silly a$$ out of my face...like right now!

Jasper just looked at him,no noise,no grumble! After just a minute it was all said and done. I looked at Trapp and said..now listen here, with a voice he doesn't hear that often. All ears were at attention.Except Jaspers..:eek2:Cause his are glued.

After that they were both taken down off the bed,and zoomies commenced! Go figure~:confused2:

Yep, Jasper has gotten old enough that the "puppy rules" will start going away and he'll have to toe the line following "doggie rules".

Angus got away with a lot with Figaro until he reached a certain size and then Figaro would pin and growl at him. That dominance/pecking order deal in action. Even with Angus neutered, Figaro exerts his authority from time to time. We step in if it sounds rough, it tends to be all talk and no teeth however.

Sounds like Ember and Diva. Diva wants to play and Ember is resting, walking something and she doesn't want it. She'll give a huff/roar and Diva backs off. 2 seconds later, they are running around again like best friends. I don't interfer unless they are about to go at it. DIva is very defering. Her co owner has a Malamute who would clean her clock if she wasn't.

Yea it was all talk and no teeth!

I have noticed tho in the last few days, the sequence of dogs have changed coming in and out of the house.
Earnhardt first, Trapp second, and Jasper is bringing up the rear. Trapp still steps aside for Earnie,so obvious~

Not like our house, where Beckon is testing "Alpha Bits." He growls and snaps, and Bits just rolls her upper lip over her forehead and stands him down. Welcome to another thrilling episode of "Showdown at the OK Corral." :rolleyes2:

I laughed when I read about Bits rolling her upper lip. Jaspers lips are always rolled! Brian calls him "sticky lips":smile2:

Maggies lips are in a constant state of roll!! She gives Zak the eye or rolls her lips then the teeth show. These don't mean a thing to Zak not untill Maggie gives him a certian bark or snap then he realizes "okay I wil leave you alone"
They do go through that teeth barring and mouthing as they play- looks quite fearce.
Going out the door it is always Zak first, I need to start having him wait to let her go out. With Maggie and Katie for some reason Katie knew Maggie was alpha but had this thing about going out the door first. Maggie was okay with it and seem's to be okay with Zak going out first.

Beckon has learned to stand back and let Bits go first. Smart boy...if he wants to keep his nose.

Justice is the undisputed leader of the dogs in my house. He always goes out the door last. He doesn't care so he doesn't ask for deferal. He also doesn't care if the girls want to lay on his bed 99% of the time. The 1% of the time he wants it, they move with just a look just like the dogs do for me and my chair. It is all about deferal. If I want, you give it to me and otherwise I don't care. Dogs who are sercure in their leadership roles or you are sercure in their place in the pack rarely resource guard. Dogs who feel threatened do and dogs who want to move up the ladder do.

I should say that most of the time Maggie is very good with Zak and they play a lot of the time, but she has her moments of wanting him not to bug her. Her lip curl is most of the time just to tease him.
