Hooflex for ears ??

Hi all , i am new to this site and i have a question .. I just recently got a new sheltie baby , and his ears seem to be going back up , the breeder told me to get Hooflex and to masage it in the pups ears twice a day . Is this safe? , it is used for horses hoof's to keep the from getting cracked i guess . Just wanted to know if anyone else heard of it . She says it helps the ears be more pliable and soft and to bend at the natural tipping point . Have any of you ever tried this method ??? thanks Joliene

Welcome to the Sheltie Nation Forum.

Please feel free to introduce yourself over in the intro section. We would love to hear more about your new baby. Pups are a hot topic over here :biggrin2:

I never used Hooflex, but if you use the search button in the blue bar near the top hear and search ears, you will find many threads on Sheltie ears and what many of our members recommend.

I personally have never used Hooflex, but remember reading of others on the forum who've used a similar method to tip the ears. I think most of them will be under grooming, but as Danisgoat said, if you do a search for 'ear tipping' you'll find TONS of info. :smile2:

yes i just read that in the sheltie talk book . I have the left ear looking fine, but i have the right one dropping which is a big no no , from what i hear . I think i am going to try the fabric glue i read in the sheltie talk book .
