when you've just spent money to enter a show?
I just sent in obedience enteries for Ember and Justice as well as Diva in Rally 2 days ago. I took them all the class and today was one of the worst training day I've had in a long time.
Diva acting like she never heard the word heel in her life. No attention, looking for food on the floor. Jumping up and down like she was on a pogo sitck(when she was looking at me)and trying to bite my elbow
. I even exercised her before class and she was still wired. Needless to say I didn't work with her much more than 10 minutes as I was getting in a bad mood and that's not good for training. We did some recalls, retrieves, tugging random sits and downs and quit.
Ember was in her "I know what to do and I don't need you" mode. She was going off the instructors instructions not mine. She left early on her glove retrieve, stopped on her own on the moving stand, took off on the turn for the articles and laiddown before my signal during the signal exercises. I'm glad she wants to do it so eagerly but each one of things is an NQ in a trial.
To top it off she laid down on the sit stay in Open class. She has never done that before. I hope she got it all out of her system. A big plus was her heeling was to die for.
Justice was my only good dog. He is never bad in practice and prefers to keep his plans sercet until the shows when I can't do anything to stop it.
At that point I just shrug and think back to the drawing board. Smart dog.

I'm only just starting out in obedience so Smudge and I are only in Novice (and won't be advancing anytime soon, thanks!
). The last time we were there the dogs from the open class were in the next ring. They were doing the long sits and the long stays (I forget how long they are - is it five or three minutes?). Anyway, this one poor black lab laid down everytime on the sit!
. Last night it took 10-15 minutes to get her back in the house after she pottied, dumb me I forgot to put her leash on before letting her out
.
