I bought my boy who is 8 now at 12 weeks old, bam he caught on, and can even knows when we spell O U T, he barks and goes out. When he was little he went out the door twice. Ya better leave him out twice, or he let you know. Thank goodness he got out of that one.
My girl we brought home at 12 weeks also. My rug in the livingroom is green, I quess she thought it was grass, yep she would use that room. ARRRRRRG! She caught on pretty well though, and she will go out in the hard rain to do her business, my boy hates the rain.
They both bark and do the sheltie ballet to go out, or the stare. Shelties I think are smart and catch on quite fast.
