How much I love Sandstorm, but........

Bentley doesn't seem to realize that the dogs barking are coming from the TV (or computer). He runs all around the house trying to "find" them. :rolleyes2::lol:

Cozmo goes nuts in the same way. I guess if we watch a boring game he likes it.....:wink2:

That being said, the word YES really sets him off. Of course, when our favorite team scores or makes a great play, that is the first word out of our mouths.

We watch tv pretty often, and honestly, if Zoey would bark at it, it would drive me absolutely insane.

I watch animal (esp. dog shows) at least a few times a week, and Zoey typically ignores the TV. Sometimes though, she'll actually watch it with us, and seem more interested by science fiction things (flashy lights and funny sound effects).

There was an event when Zoey actually barked at the TV, and I broke her out of her habit through exposition. I bought this xbox 360 game called Fable 3. You have a border collie companion in the game that barks when it finds treasures. Zoey actually went insane the first time "dog" found a treasure. I had to go around for a few hours finding treasures and telling her to calm down until she finally started ignoring the dog. Naturally, I praised a lot when she was not reacting to the dog's barking.

We've exposed Zoey to as many loud and annoying sounds that we could think of, at a very early age. The only thing that drives her nuts are the neighbour's dogs barking, but they're so psycho dogs that I sort of understand why she's barking back. They're so bad.

I don't have a problem here with any of the dogs being reactive to TV either. They just never have done it.

About the only time I get a reaction is if I am watching a video of pups on youtube, and there is barking.Trapp & Jasper can't get close enough to the laptop. They don't typically bark, but thier heads are going sideways, and really listening.

But let me listen to one of Janets videos, and she is singing the popcorn song..holy cow..it is all out yakkity yak! Or if I say.."where are all my puppies, puppy puppy",they go crazy! They will never forget those words I'm sure

Has anyone seen the AFV where the pug freaks out at the sight of the show? I think spinning and barking.. and perhaps just about anything... is preferable to that horrendous screeeching!!

I'm sorry I have nothing helpful to say on this topic... I just have my fingers crossed that Miko continues to ignore the TV. We watch A LOT of dog shows here... he doesn't react at all to the barking. Thank goodness!!

We are insane anyways! Sandstorm also barks when I pour coffee grounds into the coffee pot. When I blow dry my hair, when I walk into the bathroom at bed time (he hates the bathroom), when I turn on the shower, when we open the sliding door. He also hates the neighbors across the street (so do we) and barks at them. They don't like our dog, but they have a dog.

some people just aren't very likeable!
That is definately true. These people called the animal control about our former dog, and when they came, our dog had already died. When we got Sandstorm, they wanted nothing to do with him. They do not like the breeds that we have chosen, too "barky". But they have every yard gadget under the sun and use them continuosly.
Bark Sandstorm, Bark!!
